The generator of reactor five suspended suddenly in the morning. Stabilizing the generator succeeded within two hours. The general repair of the reactor will last for approximately 2 months. The second reactor of this nuclear power plant is also being repaired at the moment, because of a disturbance in the operation system, which arose in May.

Unit was stopped for repairs because of a leakage of cooling water from one of the pipelines in the turbine compartment.

SCRAM because of a steam leak. Steasm escaped from acrack in a pipe which is used to control pressure in th SG.

First criticality. Zaporoshje is now with six 1000 MW units the largest nuclear plant in the world, exceeding EdF's Gravelines with six 900 MW reactors.
Immediatly after commissioning unit-6 suffered two SCRAMS, the second led to interruption of the MCP seal cooling. Later the nuclear inspetion autorized increasing power to 40%; but a defect was discovered in turbine protection system and a break in a smallpipe in a FW pump, which required repairs.

Ukraine will finish the plant and put it in operation by the end of 1995. Construction has been stopped due to moratorium by the Ukrainian parlament in 1989; The moratorium was lifted at the end of 1993; No progress of completion of the plant was made because of lack of funds.
President Kuchma has ordered the Finance Ministry to allocate 1 trillion karbovanets tp finish the plant. With 95% completed Zaporoshje-6 is the closest of the 3 partially completed VVER 1000 in Ukraine.

Spanish company Technatom will deliver equipment worth about 2 million US$ to the Ukrainian plant - will be paid directly from Zaporoshe (via barter deals involving uranium): ordered equipment is: RPV & pipe inspection system, and containment instrumentation.

Fire in outdoor switchgear transformer. It needed 2 hours until it was extinguished.

1993-06-16

Contamination of reactor building's wall and surface outside - near the transportation gate. Contamination is caused by radioactive water seeping from reactor building onto the roof of adjoining structure . The radioactive water leaked through the wall due to a drainage malfunction in the make-up sytem, which resulted in water reaching the floor in a room in reactor building. Water has seped outside through crackes in the concrete. Heavy rainfalls washed the activity from the wall and roof onto the ground. 54 squaremeters are contaminated.

1993-05-27

Shutdown because of failures in the RPS: while moving down 4 of 6 CR stuck at a certain level.l Activation of RPS was due to failure of a maintenance procedure. Same fault has occured at unit 5.

1993-05-21

Fire during repairs of hydrogen cooling system during refueling outage killed one worker. No damage to equipment in the turbine hall.

1993-05-04

During moving down of control rods 4 of 6 rods became stuck at a certain levelectrical The failure occured during shutdown for planned outage.
